Improving early detection and determining best treatments for people with cerebral palsy

About

The Australasian Cerebral Palsy Clinical Trials Network (AusCP-CTN) is a Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC; $2.49m over 5 years).  The Australasian CP Clinical Trials Network has a work plan to further implement earlier detection of CP, fast track children to multisite randomised clinical trials of new neuroprotectants and to test and implement effective rehabilitation confirmed in RCTs. Knowledge translation studies will ensure transfer of effective interventions to enhanced clinical practice. The CRE will continue to develop international clinical practice guidelines and implement them internationally guided by a national consumer network. The changes in outcomes of children with CP due to the new clinical trials will be tested in Australasian Cerebral Palsy Register (ACPR).

Our future vision is one of a continuing reduction in the rate and severity towards a cure for cerebral palsy.
