LEAP Prospective Cohort study: Early detection of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander infants at high risk of adverse motor and cognitive outcomes at 12 months CA

CIs: C Luke (PhD scholar) CI Boyd, AI Benfer, Geir, Ramsamy (Indigenous PhD scholar).

Design: Prospective cohort of 120 indigenous infants. 

Aims: Training of clinicians and community workers across QLD to implement early screening (0-9 mths C.A.) for risk of adverse NDD (CP, ASD, FASD, DD) using GMA, HINE, RNDA and the ASQ-TRAK. Determine diagnostic accuracy, clinical utility and cultural appropriateness of assessments to accurately predict a diagnosis at 12 mths CA.

New Knowledge: First prospective cohort study of early neurodevelopment in indigenous infants.
