Grant Writing Workshop, 10 - 11 October 2019

The 2-day interactive workshop which aims to provide guidance in grant/fellowship writing, grantsmanship, clinical trial design, biostatistics, budgeting, bibliometrics and career development through mentorship, lectures and group discussions. This intensive workshop will involve lectures from topic experts (clinical trials design, biostatics), panel discussions, and attendees will be assigned with an experienced primary and secondary mentor and will receive individual feedback on their application.

The workshop will be led by Professor Roslyn Boyd, NHMRC Research Fellow and Director of the AusCP-CTN CRE, and mentors with NHMRC track records in the field of Cerebral palsy, Neuroprotection, Pre-clinical Trials and Paediatrics.

Who should attend?

This workshop is aimed at early to mid‐career researchers or clinical trainees in the field of child health and pre-clinical research. The goal of the course is to produce a highly competitive funding submission in pre‐clinical or clinical research. Participants are expected to bring a copy of their fully drafted submission to the workshop. The applicant will pitch their proposal on the first day and receive comprehensive mentorship and feedback from highly experienced researchers with strong NHMRC track records. The outcome is to produce a submission for a NHMRC Investigator or Ideas grant, or Clinical Trial. This course is designed around an NIH intensive grant writing course and will include updated information on submission to current needs of NHMRC.
Please note: workshop attendees must bring along a draft copy of their grant application. After acceptance on the workshop the attendee will be allocated a primary and secondary mentor in advance of the workshop commencement.
