Parenting Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (PACT): a trial of an innovative web-based intervention for parents of children with cerebral palsy

Aims: Consistent with family-centred care, our aim is to empower families of children with CP by testing the efficacy of an innovative and translatable family support.

Design: RCT involving 66 parents of children with CP allocated to: PACT or wait-list control83. Outcomes include the parent-child relationship, parental adjustment and child quality of life.

Intervention: PACT is an online parenting course grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, including videos, online activities and Skype sessions.

New knowledge: If PACT is effective, it can be made freely available to parents worldwide as it is a web–based program enabling streamlined implementation.
